“The windows are open, admitting the September breeze: a month that smells like notepaper and pencil shavings, autumn leaves and car oil. A month that smells like progress and moving on.”

Lauren Oliver

Don’t you love September? Even though I’m not a child or student any longer, it is always symbolic of a new beginning. This year, I feel it even more. London is open, the pavements are bustling and full of life. People walk with more purpose, are busier with appointments, focusing on getting the best out of the rest of the year.

For small business owners, especially women, when the kids go back to school there’s time to really get back into the swing of things. It feels like new life has been breathed into us after the soporific summer.

START OVER OR REVISIT

When September comes, I always find things get busier. The phone starts ringing, old clients and new, everyone bursting with energy. Old clients are ready to get the ball rolling for filming, new people approach me wondering how they can make video work for their business.

In this period of renewal, it’s a time when old ideas come to life – maybe you’ve been considering adding video to your strategy since the start of 2021, and over the summer decided it is definitely needed? Maybe you hadn’t the confidence to start creating videos for your social media before now, but have gained confidence since the UK eased restrictions?

September is a great time for new beginnings, or to restart something that you had left off. Doing some hard work now means that 2022 will be easier, and more successful.

A FRESH START

If you’ve been wary of trying out video marketing, now is a great time to shed that fear and approach it with vigour. When you’re feeling refreshed after a summer break (which I hope you are), you are in a great space to tackle something new, why not make that video marketing?

I know that, as a small business owner, sometimes it can feel like you’re learning skills for all kinds of different roles – in the early days, it seems like you have to be several at once, from marketing manager to accountant. However, it’s not as daunting if you surround yourself with experts – people who know what they’re doing and want to help you too.

That’s why I focused on helping small businesses and developed my course, Visibility Matters, six modules to show you how to produce videos confidently for your social media platforms.

PUT YOUR ENERGY INTO SOMETHING NEW

Creating videos and nailing your strategy can take a really long time if you approach it the wrong way. Believe me, I know, I’ve spent much of my working life mastering the art, making mistakes and fixing others’ mistakes.

However, if you’re confident about what you’re doing and approach it in a simple way, it doesn’t take as long!

Of course, whenever you learn something new you need to focus and devote some time and effort. That’s why now, when you’re feeling fresh and energetic, it’s the time to do so. All you need is a good teacher to guide you. Someone that makes it simple, provides easily digestible information and helps you learn along the way.

That’s where I come in!

OVERCOMING THE PAIN POINTS OF VIDEO

Whether it’s authenticity, messaging or your equipment, I have the answers. I love helping business owners discover how video can work for them, and I have a great network of happy customers.

Make your fresh start this September. Do the one thing that scares you! You can sign up for the next Visibility Matters course, or simply get in touch to discuss your video needs.
